Itachi compartilhou o fardo de trair seu clã com Shisui. Mas com o passar do tempo, ficou cada vez mais claro que a paz não poderia ser alcançada. Shisui pretendia usar seu Kotoamatsukami nos líderes dos Uchiha para obrigá-los a negociar, mas seu olho direito foi roubado por Danzō antes que ele tivesse uma chance.
