Red Pyramid Thing, aka Pyramid Head, is a humanoid monster in the Silent Hill series, first appearing in Silent Hill 2. His red helm and butcher's attire are reminiscent of the city's past executioners, who worshiped Valtiel, the angel of regeneration. He is a manifestation of James Sunderland's guilt and desire for punishment that exists to keep him human and help him remember his past deeds.The monster is an instrument of James' inner torment, the Great He Knife and Great Spear, and at the end of the game, a second Pyramid Head appears. Despite criticism from Masahiro Ito and Tom Hewlett, the character was reimagined in Silent Hill: Homecoming as The Bogeyman, aka The Shadowed One.
