Many car models used in the film are rented from car manufacturers, but some other cars are sponsored, like the Chevrolet and Pontiac cars in the film, which are supported by GM itself. Some other models, typically the Peterbilt tractor-trailer that plays the Optimus Prime leader, is a product created by the film crew themselves or through a famous car tuning facility. One of those cars is the Ford Mustang Saleen S281 Extreme, which Paramount collaborated with Saleen to turn the car into a Barricade character with the look of a police car.
