Automata-Karakuri Ningyo-Tea serving doll Papercraft
Ningyo (人魚, "human fish") is a fish-like creature from Japanese folklore. Though often translated as "mermaid", the term is technically not gender-specific and may include the "mermen". The literal translation "human-fish" has also been applied.
Famous lore regarding the ningyo flesh is that eating it imparts immortality, as in the legend of the nun Yao bikun

Ningyo (人魚, "pez humano") es una criatura parecida a un pez del folclore japonés. Aunque a menudo se traduce como "sirena", técnicamente el término no tiene especificidad de género y puede incluir a los "tritones". También se ha aplicado la traducción literal "pez humano".
La famosa tradición sobre la carne de ningyo es que comerla otorga inmortalidad, como en la leyenda de la monja Yao bikun.
