A dedicated bomber version of the Sukhoi Su-27 was developed in the early 1980s, to replace the Su-24 with the Sukhoi design bureau designation T-10V , which flew for the first time on this day. April 13 , 1990 . It was previously officially known as the Su-27IB (IB: Istrebitel Bombardirovschik / Fighter Bomber). It was developed in tandem with the two-seat naval trainer version, the Su-27KUB (KUB: Korabelnyi Uchebno-Boyevoy , Combat Training on Ships), although contrary to first reports, the two aircraft models. These are not directly related.
