Captain America Funko papercraft
Captain America is a superhero that appears in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by cartoonists Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, the character first appeared in Captain America Comics #1 (March 1941 cover) of Marvel Comics predecessor Timely Comics. Captain America was designed as a patriotic super soldier who frequently fought against the Axis powers in World War II and was Time Comics' most popular character during the war. The popularity of superheroes waned after the war, and the Captain America comic books were discontinued in 1950 and briefly revived in 1953. Captain America has been publishing since Marvel Comics revived the role in 1964.
