Battleship IJN Nagato Papercraft
Nagato ( Japanese : 長門, Changmen ) , named after Nagato Prefecture , was a super-dreadnought battleship built for the Imperial Japanese Navy . Nagato was the world's first battleship to be equipped with a 16-inch main gun (16.1 inches or 410 mm in reality), which together with her armor protection and speed made her one of the most powerful battleships in the world. The most powerful warship at the time it was commissioned. Completed in 1920 as the opening ship of her class, Nagato participated in search and rescue operations for survivors of the Great Kantō Earthquake.in 1923. The ship was modernized between 1934-1936 with improvements in armor, machinery and reconstruction of a superstructure. Nagato briefly participated in the Sino-Japanese War in 1937 and was Admiral Yamamoto Isoroku's flagship during the Attack on Pearl Harbor . It covered the retreat of the assault ships and did not participate in the attack.
