Kurumi unexpectedly entered Raizen High School and she was placed in the same class as Itsuka Shidou . The purpose of this was for her to be able to get close to Shidou and then "swallow" him and the amount of Reiryoku sealed inside her body. Her plan was nearly as successful as expected until it was defeated by Itsuka Kotori at the school's rooftop. Kurumi was forced to withdraw, but confidently stated that she was not ready to fight Kotori at the time and that if she had enough "time", she could have won.
