Rilakkuma and Friends in Aloha Papercraft
San-X contributor Aki Kondo has previously created characters such as Amaguri-chan and Mikan Boya. At the time, San-X was instructing its employees to create one character per month.After watching a TV show about dogs at the height of Japan's pet boom, Kondo not only wanted a dog, but also I envied his life when he was busy with work and wanted to relax more. This inspired her to create Rilakkuma. Its name is a portmanteau of the words ``relax'' (relax, relax) and ``kuma'' (bear, bear), making it look ``cute'' yet ``out of place''. Kondo had also designed Rilakkuma with a zipper on his back, which became one of his quirks. I liked the hand character.
