Common file types, file extensions and how to open them.

Compressed files (e.g., .ZIP and .RAR)
Compression techniques reduce file sizes or package several files together. Compressed files may end with a .7z, .arj, .rar, .tgz, or .zip file extension. After they've been downloaded, these files must be decompressed before they can run or be viewed. Many users use WinZip to extract ZIP files and WinRAR to extract RAR files in Windows. However, we recommend Windows users use 7-Zip since this program is free, open source, and supports all major compressed file formats.

Image files (e.g., .JPG, .PNG, .BMP, .TIF, and .GIF.)
There are many different image types and image file extensions that can be used when creating and saving images on the computer.
You can open an image file with any program that supports images. There are a large amount of free and commercial image viewing and editing applications available for desktop and mobile platforms, including: Microsoft Windows Photos (Windows), Apple Preview (Mac), Adobe Photoshop (Windows, Mac), GIMP (cross-platform). You can also view an image in your web browser by dragging and dropping it into your browser window.

What is a PDO file?
A PDO file is a papercraft file created by Pepakura Designer, a program used to turn digital 3D models into physical papercraft models. It contains a 3D model and its corresponding 2D papercraft cutouts. The 2D cutouts that PDO files contain are meant to be printed, so a papercraft enthusiast can assemble the cutouts into a replica of the 3D model. You can open a PDO file in Pepakura Designer or Pepkura Viewer. We recommend users use the Pepakura Viewer program to view PDO files.

What is a PDF file?
A PDF file is a multi-platform document created by Adobe Acrobat or another PDF application. The PDF format is commonly used for saving documents and publications in a standard format that can be viewed on multiple platforms. In many cases, PDF files are created from existing documents instead of from scratch.

You can open and view PDF files with a large number of applications, most notably, Adobe Acrobat Reader. Nitro Pro (Windows) and Smile PDFpenPro (macOS) are other applications that provide PDF viewing and editing capabilities. Other options for viewing PDF files include Microsoft Word (Windows and macOS), Apple Preview (bundled with macOS), Foxit Reader, and web browsers, such as Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
